So I'm sitting here working on this blog - and by "working" I mean typing and eavesdropping on the conversations around me - and at the table beside me, a bride is having a meeting with what must be a florist. They're talking some serious flowers: big sunflowers, centerpieces, etc.
The bride has strong feelings about tulips.
It's kind of funny how I realized what they were talking about, since they've been sitting there for about fifteen minutes. Certain phrases stuck out:
"I figured the Maid of Honor will take care of that."
"And what kind of flowers will go on the base?"
"Flower Girl will wear a white dress."
I must take a moment to explain that, since starting the planning process, I wedding-stalk. Not just wedding websites. And not so far as to crash someone else's wedding.
This is what I mean by wedding stalking: I browse photographer's blogs to see weddings and different shots. I'm even friends with some wedding photogs that I haven't hired on facebook, just so I can see their feeds. I flip through facebook albums as soon as friends post about a wedding they've been to.
All this is infinitely more interesting than meandering through the internets.
I also talk to real live humans, don't worry. I ask people - even people I don't know well, but who I know have been married recently - tons of questions (after first asking if they mind):
"What did you do?"
"Where did you look?"
"What went really well?"
"Where did you honeymoon?"
So back to the meeting a mere 5 feet away... is it bad that I want to pull up a chair and peek at the album they're going through?
Probably.
Don't worry, I won't. I have self control (mostly).
Listening to this conversation, though, is giving me great ideas for questions to ask a prospective florist.
